All equipment is manufactured "in house" and of a modular
design ensuring easy installation and complete compatibility with any additional
items fitted at a later date.
The fully automatic equipment will efficiently wash from single car to
multiple car in any sequence of presentation, with a throughput of up to 200
carriages per hour.
The unique washing action, with brushes mounted on hydraulically or pneumatically activated swing arms ensures thorough coverage of different gauge
rolling stock.
Over recent years many new features have been incorporated in the specification of SMITH
BROS & WEBB LIMITED plants, including the wide usage of
corrosion-proof and maintenance-free engineering plastics.
It is also fail-safe. In the event of a plant malfunction the brushes immediately cease spinning and retract to the 'rest' position.
Regular cleaning of rolling stock reduces maintenance costs and almost
certainly prolongs the useful working life of carriages.
