FIRST ANNIVERSARY FOR NYNAS
TANKER WASH
With
a bustling distribution operation at their Ellesmere Port refinery, Nynas UK
decided in 2007 that the time was ripe to invest in a new automated tanker wash.
Nynas turned to specialist
commercial vehicle wash manufacturer
SMITH BROS & WEBB LIMITED,
who supplied and installed a
Britannia
‘Spray 2000’ brushless wash in October 2007.
The
Britannia
Spray 2000 is a drive through twin arch chemical spray system manufactured by
SMITH BROS & WEBB LIMITED
for operators of tanker, tipper and municipal type fleets. The system provides a
cost effective solution for cleaning of awkwardly shaped vehicles, with pivoting
side spray pipes allowing detergent to reach all surfaces, and a powerful rinse
pump thoroughly washing off loosened dirt. The installation at Ellesmere Port
was supplied with a water reclamation facility allowing a significant amount of
wash water to be recycled and re-used in the wash.
The performance of the wash
facility was immediately evident according to Nynas’ UK Distribution Manager
Andrew Williams, who commented “we have had a lot of positive feedback about the
appearance of our vehicles since they started using the tanker wash”.
The wash completes it’s first
year of service this month, with Nynas planning to implement round the clock
usage and thereby bring the washing of their own vehicles and those of the
various third party tankers that operate in and out of the Ellesmere Port site
completely in house.

EASTBOURNE
BUSES STICK WITH SMITH BROS & WEBB
Eastbourne Buses have recently
installed a new
SMITH BROS & WEBB LIMITED “Britannia
Strong” bus wash at their Birch Road depot. “Our previous
Britannia
wash provided us with 14 yrs of reliable service so we had no hesitation in
going back to
SMITH BROS & WEBB LIMITED
for a replacement” says Ian Stringer of Eastbourne Buses. “We also wash tourist
coaches when they are visiting Eastbourne, so the ability of the Strong to cope
with a variety of different sized vehicles was a key factor.
The Birch Road depot is less
than a mile from the sea front, so the machine was specially manufactured with a
galvanised steel frame to offer additional protection from the high salt content
in the air.
